Verdi FAQ
Q: What is Verdi VPC?
A: Verdi VPC is an exciting new software application from IP Health that ties together heterogeneous data sources into a unified whole. It is designed to give clinicians a single view of all of their patients’ information in one log-on in a very simple, easy to learn format, overcoming many of the problems that are standard in EMR implementation. It is intended to work quickly, saving time and allowing more rapid, accurate treatment, and also to rapidly cross the divide between paper and electronic records.
Q: Is Verdi VPC an EMR application?
A: No – Verdi VPC is the “catalyst” that can make a huge difference in how effectively EMRs operate. It accelerates implementation and usage in a highly effective manner.
Q: How does Verdi VPC meet “Meaningful Use” criteria?
A: We believe that Verdi VPC can be the key driver in EMR implementation, allowing more rapid, painless attainment of MU criteria and faster, more widespread use of EMR. Clinicians can move into and out of their patient data much more quickly and easily, accomplishing higher levels of usage in much shorter time spans.
Q: Does Verdi VPC force us into pre-set templates that we won’t like?
A: No – Verdi VPC allows users to display and use their own templates, forms and documents. Verdi VPC allows rapid creation of clinical notes in formats of the customer’s choice. It is very flexible, allowing administrators to change labeling, color, and a variety of other features.
Q: Does Verdi VPC force me – the doctor – to type all of my notes in, or can I still dictate?
A: Verdi VPC is set up to allow transcription services to output their product to the electronic patient record – you can still dictate, but you won’t have to worry about the paper chase; Verdi VPC will display your transcribed notes rapidly and easily. If you still want a paper record, you can print one out.

Q: How much hardware will I need?
A: None. Nada. Zip. Verdi VPC is provided pre-loaded onto a high availability appliance for use in your facility. The clustered system assures that there is no single-point-of-failure, and Verdi VPC will be operational under all reasonable conditions.
Q: What about HIPAA compliance?
A: We’re glad you asked – this is an unbelievably important issue, one that is poorly understood, and which is irretrievably interlinked with EMR. Recent enactments have made privacy and security non-compliance a potentially very expensive problem. Verdi VPC access is role-based; IT Administration controls who gets to see which records. User-specific names and passwords are needed to log onto the system, and limits are set on what may be viewed, depending upon the needs of the user. Verdi VPC also contains an “Audit Log” which allows IT Admin to see who visited which records, and when they did it. The Audit Log can be set up to provide alerts in the event that a user attempts to breach a record for which they are not authorized, allowing rapid containment of record breaches.
